The short answer

At 20% critical chance and +40% extra critical damage, adding 10 percentage points of chance wins our equal-point comparison. Your best upgrade still depends on your starting stats and how much of each stat you can gain.

Start with the same ten hits.

In the video’s simplified example, a normal hit deals 1,000 damage. A standard crit doubles it, and +40% extra critical damage adds another 400. That makes each crit worth 2,400.

At 20% chance, ten hits average eight normal hits and two crits: 12,800 damage in total. That is an expected average, not a promise about your next ten attacks.

+10 extra damage points13,000+1.56%

The bigger upgrade can change the answer.

Start instead at 80% chance and +40% extra critical damage. Five more points of chance give about 3.30% more average damage; twenty more points of extra critical damage give about 7.55%. Compare the upgrades available to you, rather than treating “chance first” as a rule for every build.

Before changing your build

  • Check your effective stats with the buffs you use in combat.
  • Read each effect’s rank, duration and conditions.
  • Check again inside PvP. A town character sheet does not describe every combat condition.

These examples explain the trade-off. They do not model every skill, target defence or temporary buff. The video covers acquisition options and the PvP qualifications in more detail.
